Two Kinds of Boys.

(James finds Laurence lying on the grass.)

James.—What, Laurie! Lying here? Are you asleep?

Laurence.—Not quite.

J.—Are you awake?

L.—Not quite.

J.—What are you doing there?

L.—Nothing.

J.—What are you thinking about?

L.—Nothing.

J.—Why are you lying here?

L.—I don’t know. I suppose it’s because I can’t find anybody to play with me; will you do so?

J.—No; I can’t; I’m busy.

L.—Busy! You are always busy. I shouldn’t like to be you, to have so much to do.

J.—And I shouldn’t like to be you, to have nothing to do.
