Prepositional Verbs / Phrasal Verbs.


Some intransitive verbs are made transitive by adding a preposition or prepositions.

Examples.

The bull ran at me (ran at = charged).
Look out for me at four o'clock (look out for = expect).
We hope for better times (hope for = desire).

Such verbs are sometimes called Prepositional / Phrasal Verbs.

Homework.

Find and list Prepositional/Phrasal Verbs as many verbs as you can; examine their meanings too.
