Conjugation.


Conjugation is the name given to all the changes that a verb undergoes to denote time (Tense), manner (Mood), Number and Person.

There are two main Conjugations in English, that of Strong Verbs and that of Weak Verbs.

Strong Verbs are those in which the past tense is formed by changing the main vowel of the present tense.

Draw → Drew
Drink → Drank
Get → Got
Know → Knew
Sing → Sang
Etc.

Weak Verbs are those in which the past tense is formed by adding d, ed or t to the present tense.

Dance → Danced
Guess → Guessed
Mean → Meant
Etc.
