The Past Indefinite Tense expresses:

# A past action or event.

I bathed in the Kalawewa yesterday.
I finished the work you asked me to do.
I typed the lesson No. 74.
It happened right at nine.

# Something which happened regularly in the past.

As a student, I rose early.
At least we had a chance a day.
You read a few lessons everyday.
You were there every other day.
