Comparison of Adjectives.
Adjectives can be compared. If we are comparing two things, instead of saying more old, more simple, more short, we say older, simpler, shorter.
If we comparing three or more things, instead of saying most old, most simple, most short, we say oldest, simplest, and shortest.
There are three degrees of comparisons. The Positive, the Comparative and the Superlative.
The Positive names the simple quality, as : bright, kind, sweet ...
The Comparative names a further degree of the quality, as : brighter, kinder, and sweeter ...
The Superlative names the utmost degree of the quality, as brightest, kindest, sweetest ...
